Going through a lot of the classic Warner Brothers cartoons (and even the just okay ones) I’ve begun to notice more and more the meticulously crafted and wonderous layouts used.

These layouts here are all done by Maurice Noble, a man whose resume covers the wide expanse of animation’s Golden age, from Disney to most notibly Warner Brothers, where he worked closely with Chuck Jones for most of his career there. Noble’s work at Warner’s acted undoubtedly as an influence upon the UPA crew in their initial years.

Anyone interested in composition, colour styling and backgrounds should definitely look into Maurice Noble, and there in fact a book coming sometime in 2012, thanks to Tod Polson, so stay tuned folks.
